Giving Back To Animal Welfare League QLD
There is no denying that there is an overpopulation of pets worldwide. Every year over 8,000 animals are taken in and cared for by Animal Welfare League Queensland. AWLQ acts as a middle ground for rescue animals, ensuring that every animal is vaccinated, desexed, wormed, and given necessary care before moving forward with their forever family. From 2020 to 2021, YCL Jewels partnered with AWLQ to donate $1 from every order to the non for profit organisation. On the 22.2.22, we were humbled to present Animal Welfare League Queensland with our $20,000 donation.

"Over the past 7 years I have rescued 5 animals: Atlas & Inara my greyhounds, Salem & Spirit my cats & Opal, my whippet. I believe there are so many animals out there that are in need of loving homes, yet in society today we so often desire an exact breed, colour & size. Every animal is worthy of love, companionship & care. We rescued our whippet, whom we affectionally named Opal when he was one week shy of his 2nd birthday. Prior to his life with us, he was abandoned by multiple families, chained up outside all day & abused, so when he came to us, he was quite timid & anxious. He didn't know how to play with toys, eat treats & was scared of the beach!
|
Two years on, with so much love, many soft blankets & care, Opal is now a confident, happy & very affectionate dog. One of his favourite pastimes being running around on the beach at sunset. Seeing his personality & disposition change & grow has been one of the most fulfilling things to witness." - Fabienne, Founder.

How your donation will support AWLQ:
|
This donation will be used to renovate AWLQ's Dog Kitchen, the hub of everything for the dog adoption centre. The area is used for preparing & storing food, feeding, cleaning bowls & bathing the dogs. "We can have over 40 residents at any one time, all of these puppies and dogs need to be fed (sometimes multiple times a day), and the kitchen is where our troop of amazing volunteers and animal attendants make this happen." - Anji, Fundraising Manager AWLQ. |
