January Birthstone: Garnet

Presenting in a deep red colour, the garnet is said to keep the wearer safe during travels. It is also the spiritual stone of self-empowerment, strength & safety.

February Birthstone: Amethyst

Said to bring stronger relationships & courage, ancient Greeks believed that the amethyst stone guarded against intoxication. In fact, the term amethyst comes from the Greek amethystos, meaning sober. It is thought to relieve stress & anxiety along with the symptoms that present with those feelings, namely headaches & fatigues. It is also said to improve skin as well.

March Birthstone: Aquamarine

The March birthstone was thought to cure ailments in the heart, liver & stomach. By drinking the water in which an aquamarine stone had been placed, it was believed illness could be cured.

Early sailors also believed this stone would protect them against ocean dangers due to its association with tranquility, serenity, clarity & harmony.

April Birthstone: Diamond

Perhaps the most famous of all birthstones in its own right, diamond is not only a symbol of ever-lasting love, but also of courage. Diamonds also represent strength, love, & health. The stone’s strength is said to bring fortitude and courage through its invincibility & hardness.

May Birthstone: Emerald

Presenting in a deep, dark green, emeralds were noted to be one of Cleopatra’s favourite gems. It’s associations have long been related to fertility, rebirth & love. Emeralds were also dedicated to Venus, the Goddess of love & beauty, by the ancient Romans.

Today, it is said to represent wisdom, growth & patience.

June Birthstone: Pearl

Once believed to be the hardened tears of joy from Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of love, pearls have long been a symbol of purity. In more recent times, pearls have become symbols of wisdom, & serenity. Chinese cultures believed that the gems were formed inside the heads of dragons.

July Birthstone: Ruby

Sapphires were said to ward off evil and posiging. So much so, in fact, that it was believed a venomous snake would die if placed in a container or vessel made of sapphire.

October Birthstone: Opal

Symbolising faithfulness and confidence, the word opal comes from the Latin opalus, meaning “precious jewel.” When worn in a necklace, they are said to repel evil and protect eyesight. It is believed opals intensify emotions and release inhibitions, encouraging both freedom, independence, and spontaneity.

November Birthstone: Topaz
