Conception to Cultivation: Birthstones

"A collection that evokes feeling, at first, simply through colour", this was the first intention that entered my mind when I first thought about designing a Birthstone collection. In a world right now with wells of darkness scattered throughout it, I was curious about how as a brand, we could welcome the feeling of 'vivacitá', Italian for liveliness, into the lives of our beautiful community.

| I knew I wanted the design of our pendants to be feminine, easily wearable & simple. This is how we conjured the concept for a brilliant cut 5mm cubic zirconia stone, elegantly set between four classic prongs. Cubic zirconia is a high quality man-made stone that causes no depletion to our ecosystem with its creation. Every time we sit down to map out a collection, we always have our community in the front of our mind. How will this piece become part of your daily rituals? How will it layer with your collection of jewellery? What meaning will it add to your life? |

Our photoshoot was always a little hectic & full of so much magic! We had the pleasure of shooting at Arcos Villa with both Isabelle Mathers & Leilani Eddie. We wanted to capture the essence of pure friendship & love through the images. Our shoots usually take around six months to prepare for, from conceptualising the brief to the final product our beautiful community see's, takes a YCL Village!

Here's a little glimpse into my mind. I love using handwriting, sketches & mood boards to bring my vision to life. I find it a nice way to document the creative process & I enjoy looking back at each body of work overtime.

Inside every human is a kaleidoscope of colour, hues of the rainbow awaiting release. Our intention for each wearer of our Birthstone necklaces is that this meaning is evoked within you. To see yourself as an array of colour & a bright light to embrace all that makes up you. Be your own muse, & express yourself in whatever way feels true & honest to you. F x
